The Meditating Cat is part of Michael’s Zen Collection.  Each piece ships with a product tag that reads as follows:

Michael’s Meditating creatures are all created with Chinese Characters etched into the back of their robe.  This symbol is indicative of the animal’s primary characteristic.  The Cat’s is Independence.
